DESCRIPTION:On Saturday, September 6th, 2025 from 10am to 3pm the Brewster Rotary will be holding their annual Brewster Fall Festival on Main Street in the Village. This is a free event that includes food & vendors, live music and family-friendly activities. As a reminder, there will be no parking permitted on Main Street starting the day before the event (September 5th), to allow enough time for cars to be moved and for vendors to set up. Any vehicle parked on Main Street after 6am on September 6th will be towed. Sign's will also be posted at every meter as a reminder. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our department. We look forward to celebrating with our community!

It is strongly recommended that laundry not be done for 24 to 48 hours after hydrant flushing, as discolored water may stain clothing. After flushing is completed, please check that faucets and toilets are operating properly and are not leaking. If your washing machine hoses contain strainers, they should also be checked for any buildup or debris.\NWhat is it that makes the water turn orange when they flush the hydrant?\NMinerals – Primarily Iron & Manganese\NThe Village of Brewster's supply source is groundwater drawn from five sand and gravel wells.\NThe semiannual hydrant flushing helps remove the buildup of naturally occurring mineral sediment that accumulates in the groundwater over time.\NOpening the hydrants increases water flow through the system, which stirs up and flushes out sediment that has settled in the water lines.\NDoes running the tap water make it clear up faster? \NNo. To the contrary, running the water prolongs the turbulence in the system.
