New York State’s Click It or Ticket

New York State’s Click It or Ticket mobilization will commence May 202019 and continue through June 2, 2019. The Brewster Police Department will participate in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Program and focus on enforcing New York State’s Occupant Restraint Law. New York State is a “primary enforcement’ state. An officer may issue a traffic summons just for failure to wear a seat belt. A ticket may be issued to a driver who fails to make sure a child passenger is properly secured in a safety seat or with a seat belt. It’s important to know that Click It or Ticket is not about issuing summons it’s about saving lives.

Seat belts save lives and prevent serious injuries in a traffic crash. According to NHTSA, seat belts saved an estimated 14,668 lives of occupants 5 and older. If all passenger vehicle occupants 5 and older involved in fatal crashes had worn their seat belts, and additional 2,456 lives could have been saved in 2016 alone. SEAT BELTS SAVE LIVES- BUCKLE UP.
